Three words that best describe you as a candidate:

Integrity Empathy Compassion

Experience:

The greatest experience I could have ever gained has come from working in Special Education. I have learned the importance of being an advocate for someone. I’ve experienced the value of cohesion. I’ve felt compassion and joy in the heaviest ways.

Why are you running?

I am running for school board to be part of a team that provides a quality education and a place to belong to every student.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

My communication skills set me apart from the other candidates. I am able to share and defend my views, but listen to and respect the views of others as well.

What are the top two or three issues facing the school district?

Two issues facing Pillager would be growth and access to resources. The population is increasing. How can we accommodate current growth while aiming toward a sustainable future? How can we determine needed resources and provide them? (Ex. Access to healthcare, dental care, veterinarian care, job coaching, parent coaching, transportation, athletic fees, school supplies, teacher supplies and many more.)

What are your plans to address those issues?

In my position with the Pillager School Board, I plan to continue listening to community members about which resources are needed. I plan to learn which resources are offered within the school and how we can make those more accessible to families throughout the community.

How would you prioritize area businesses, jobs and the economy?

How would you address the school district’s budget needs?

First, I would need to evaluate what the district’s budget needs are. Next, I would ask questions to gain a greater understanding of those needs. Then, I would collaborate with my team to greater assess the budget needs and how to best fulfill them while remaining fiscally responsible.
