Three words that best describe you as a candidate:

Dedicated, Empathetic, Innovative

Experience:

My career is built on serving others in my community. From teaching Sunday School as a Children's Ministry Director to caring for seniors as a PCA, I have leaned into supporting and caring for my neighbors. I am a long time advocate of Early Childhood Education and Head Start programs.

Why are you running?

I am running so that people who feel left behind have an opportunity to be heard! I am running to further serve my community and work across the aisle to get things done.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

I bring a fresh perspective to the office, while maintaining an empathy for the entire constituency. I will listen to and respect all of my district. I have lived in poverty, worked multiple jobs, and fully understand the struggles of the working class because I am a part of it.

What are the top two or three issues facing Minnesota?

One thing on the minds of folks here lately is the lack of affordable housing. In Brainerd, the city council has been addressing the issue of homeless encampments, and have not found a suitable solution. As housing costs rise, wages remain stagnant, and we have fewer units than necessary to serve our population.
Supporting public education and early childhood education and early intervention for students with high needs.

What are your plans to address those issues?

It is crucial to consider the impact on the unhoused. We cannot put policy in place that criminalizes homelessness and poverty. My plan will be to work with local governments to meet their housing and infrastructure needs, listen to the constituents about the housing hurdles they face and their concerns.
I will support our students and staff, as well access to mental health supports and make sure they are fully funded.

How would you prioritize area businesses, jobs and the economy?

The bottom line is that everything ties back into the economy. Having affordable housing draws in business and new residents that will live and work here. Supporting our schools shows students we care and will have them putting down their own roots here, which grows and supports local business.

How would you address the school district’s budget needs?
